BASF PCI Tile Adhesive Debuts In China

- Showcasing world-leading expertise at YATAO Fair

- Marking entry into Chinese tile adhesive market

BASF showcased PCI's world-leading tile adhesive expertise at the Foshan International Ceramic Fair from April 18th to 22nd, attracting more than 4,000 visitors and professionals from 18 countries seeking for innovative solutions that enable safe and durable tiling system.

China is the largest tile market in the world, consuming approximately two billion square meters of locally produced tiles. "Ceramics originated from China, and BASF is the world leading chemical company, our entry into Chinese tile adhesive market marks a significant milestone to combine BASF latest technologies with the thousands-year-old Chinese ceramic knowledge," said Dr. Boris Gorella, group vice president and head of BASF regional business unit Construction Chemicals Asia Pacific. "It will broaden our capabilities in serving the construction industry in China. We will continue to work closely with local customers and upgrade the Chinese tile adhesive industry. 

PCI, originated from Germany and integrated into BASF in 2006, is the leader in European tile adhesive market for more than 50 years.

PCI was awarded for Best Presentation by fabulous product showcase and on-site demonstration. At the fair, an eye-catching PCI booth was set up to display a broad range of product systems including wall and flooring leveling materials, primer, waterproofing materials, tile adhesives and tile grouts. Mr. Markus Scherler, product manager of PCI Tiling System in China presented the innovative solutions distributors, tile manufacturers, layers, and architects. In conjunction, a German tile laying expert demonstrated the modern way of tiling with excellent workability and performance.

To highlight the world-leading technologies, PCI sponsored a tile laying DIY competition at the fair, attracting many visitors to experience the advanced adhesives and expertise provided by PCI.

A good tile adhesive will help save time, increase durability and enhance performance of heat-resistance and water-proofing. To better meet the Chinese customer needs, PCI adapted its formulation to the Chinese climate and regulation standards to optimize the quality and workability. "The new tile adhesives product range will be produced in China and is expected to revolutionalize the tile laying practice in China," said Dr. Karsten Eller, vice president, responsible for the PCI project in China.

PCI is highly recognized its partnership with customers to enable great designs and business successes by providing advisory and technical services. In Europe, there is an average of 10,000 construction professionals take advantage of PCI training programs.

Since its creation, PCI has contributed to and been proven by a lot of high-profile projects, from 1972 Munich Olympic Stadium to 2000 Hanover World Expo hall, from 2006 FIFA World Cup stadium in Bochum to the swimming pool in Casino Macao.
